La Cañada Flintridge

The 17th most affluent city in the U.S., La Cañada Flintridge is filled with architecturally important homes by Paul Revere Williams, Lloyd Wright, David A. Lopez, and Eugene Weston III. Named for the Spanish word, cañada (pronounced “canyada”) meaning ravine, and its developer, U.S. State Senator Frank P. Flint, the area totals 8.6 square miles (listen up nature lovers), over 99 percent of which is protected land. Check out the local sights while horseback riding with the non-profit Flintridge Riding Club, relax in the 160-acre Descanso Gardens, and take in the picnic-friendly Music in the Park Summer Concert Series. After working up an appetite, scarf down an award-winning Proper Burger at Flintridge Proper. Bonus points: La Cañada Flintridge Unified School District is one of the top districts in the state.
