Located on an oversized 9,164-square-foot lot in Mount Washington, 371 Mavis Drive is a midcentury A-frame with much to offer—a soaring beamed ceiling, an expansive triangular wall of glass framing spectacular downtown views, and two separate bonus structures on the property. Built in 1965, the home was recently renovated by one of its owners, Roberto Sheinberg, an architect and the design director of Lehrer Architects, who gutted the 1,605-feet residence and refreshed the living spaces of the main house. The renovation included inserting new flooring throughout and modernizing the kitchens and bathrooms—all while maintaining the integrity of the home’s original design.
The two additional structures at the back include one that is currently being used as a studio, office, and den. The other “would make a perfect recording studio or guest house,” according to the listing.
371 Mavis Drive also houses a little piece of L.A. history: According to the listing agent, Scott King of Deasy Penner Podley, the current owners purchased the home from two women who had owned the property since 1971 and ran a “fancy menu embossing business” out of the office-like second structure on the compound for over 30 years. “They supplied all the famous restaurants,” he shares. “In one of the two garages on the compound, there are over a hundred of their most iconic menus preserved on the wall as a memorial to their amazing contribution to the rise of Los Angeles as a culinary capital in the United States.”
