A Look at BoldPas :: An Art Takeover of Old Pasadena

May 17, 2018 @ 10:12 am

This past Saturday, Old Pasadena was taken over by a series of large-scale art installations for an exciting event known as BoldPas. The one-day interactive exhibition featured 13 colorful installations placed throughout the historic alleyways of Old Pasadena. The event also incorporated a number of live painters, walking tours, and art activities for all ages. Highlights included a wall of live moss and a series of touchable sculptures covered in synthetic fur. Kelley Anderson’s “Moss Wall” was inspired by the Japanese tradition of Tanzaku, or traditional wishing tree. Visitors were invited to write down their wishes on small pieces of colored paper and hang them from branches affixed to the moss. Max Coppola’s “Fur Figures” were a big hit with the kids. His playful sculptures invited viewers to touch and even sit down on one doubling as a wacky chair.
