Modernism Week 2022, February 17- February 27
Friends, colleagues and clients always ask what to do while in Palm Springs for Modernism Week, after curating and coordinating the Signature Home Tour for years, and being on the Board of Modernism Week for 8 years, we can give you a few ideas. Modernism Week starts on Thursday February 17, 2022 and runs through Sunday February 27,2022. Tickets are on sale now at modernismweek.com. All precautions have been taken and rules followed to ensure this will be a Covid-safe event.
In case you don’t know, Modernism Week is the annual 11-day architecture + design event that brings more than 165,000 visitors from across the country and globe to participate in more than 375 events that are all things mid-century and modern architecture and design. Modernism Week includes home tours, garden tours, films, lectures, culinary events, fashion events, the Modernism Vintage Furniture Show + Sale, fashion, classic cars, tours of Sunnylands, the Vintage Trailer Show, and more.
I always suggest to begin with the Architectural Bus Tour, offered continuously through the 11 days of Modernism Week. It’s filled with fun facts, history and a plethora of information about Palm Springs – architecture, the community, and full of celebrity-lore. The Lecture and Film Series offers a broad sampling of subjects not to be missed, no where else is so much information about design and architecture available to be learned at one event.
Visit the Uptown Design District to see all the fabulous shops including Flow Modern, Bon Vivant, a la MOD, The Galleria, Christopher Anthony, Elizabeth & Prince, Trina Turk, and Wil Stiles to name a few. Also don’t miss Towne, Hedge, The Shops at 1345, Modern Way, and Ventura. Grab a coffee (and a cinnamon roll) at Koffi, Ernest Coffee, Cafe La Jefa, or Cartel, breakfast or lunch at Cheekys, Mod Cafe, Kings Highway at the Ace Hotel, or Chicken Ranch. There are so many great restaurants. We always love Birba, Jakes, Workshop Kitchen, Mr. Lyons, Tropicale, 1501 Uptown Gastropub, 849, The Rooster and the Pig, Azucar in the boutique hotel the La Serena Villas.
